Tics (Habit Spasms)
SYMPTOMS include the sudden, repetitive, brief movements such as shrugging
of the shoulder, twitching at the corner of the mouth or eye, nodding or
shaking of the head and clearing of the throat.
CAUSES are mostly unknown at this time but it is often associated with
encephalitis and psychological mechanisms. Tics may persist into adulthood
but they usually start about the age of 6 and disappear around puberty.
